Significant increase in our relay capacity ========================================== Following the ability to scale up to 8 instances per IP[1], Nos oignons has deployed several dozen new relays on its existing servers[2] in recent weeks, optimizing the use of allocated bandwidth in the process, passing the 550 MiB/s and the 2% probability of using one of our output relays[3] marks! To celebrate its 10th year of existence, Nos Oignons is launching a new donation campain. The Tor Browser is, like the usage of the Tor network, free. But maintaining the computers composing the network costs money, and our financial capacities are currently quite low. To continue to run our relays, but also, if possible, to open new ones et keep growing the Tor network in France, we're asking again for donations. Tor is now more than ever essential. We still have some cards (in french) and posters from our previous campain, and we'll send them until there is none, to anyone making a recuring donation, or a one-shot one above 30 euros (send us an email to ca(a)nos-oignons.net with the date, how you sent us the money, and the amount - delivery in France is done via "point relais"). Hello, This January 2023, the [Human Rights Foundation](https://hrf.org/) gave Nos oignons more than 3 000 euros to allow us to keep our high-speed French Tor exit nodes afloat. Thank you so much for this donation, happening at the right moment, since our budget is pretty low lately. Rest assure we'll use those funds wisely. Nos Oignons' administration council.

New exit node for Nos oignons!

It has been named as an homage to Alice Recoque[3], pioneer of computer science, especially in artifical intelligence. She also contributed to the creation of the CNIL[4] in 1978! She died in January 2021. This relay adds around 100Mbps to the Tor network, increasing Nos Oignons' contribution by around 20%[5]. It's an amazing news, both for the Tor network and for Nos Oignons. But please note that this new node deployement was only made possible thanks to recent consequent sporadic donations. We don't have enough fund to maintain it for more than a couple of months, so don't hesitate to donate a couple of bucks[6]. This news is a nice opportunity to announce the significant bandwith increase of mwittig[7], from 150kbps à 2Mbps thanks to DATA EXPERTISE[8]! Today (september 15th 2020) we published Nos oignons' activities and financial reports, in French. Conclusions of the activities report: "Yet another year in the continuity of the previous one, without much change. The COVID-induced quarantine delayed the deployment of a new relay, but we are still spending more money that we are earning. Thus, the donations campaign^[https://nos-oignons.net/Donnez/index.en.html] should be resumed to collect new funds, and pursue our activity, with six relays, and maybe more, to make the Tor network even more useful and usable." 100 Mbit/s added to the Tor network!

100 Mbit/s added to the Tor network! For years it has served as a coffee-table for some members of Nos Oignons. The coffee-table is now back to its first usage : being a server! After some adventures, it became on the 28th of August, 2020, our new Tor exit relay named "mwittig". Its name is a reference to [Monique Wittig, a French novelist, theorist and lesbian activist](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monique_Wittig). Proud of adding this new relay to the Tor network, we deeply thank [Data Expertise - Human's Connexion](https://www.data-expertise.com/) for hosting this server. Hello, Nos Oignons' general assembly[1] has approved this 10th November 2019 our financial report for 2018[2] (in French) and our activity report for 2018-2019[3] (in French). Like those from previous years[4], we publish these reports (in French) to enable any Tor network supporter to review the work done by Nos Oignons' volunteers[5] and how the donations have been used.
